Gonzaga looks good in home opener
Gonzaga Basketball takes the court

I had the opportunity to see Gonzaga Basketball’s home opener exhibition game. Of Course, this team will be without last year’s leading scorer Adam Morrison.

Gonzaga played Augustana from South Dakota.

Final Score: Gonzaga 89 Augustana 53

Here is the breakdown of how the new Gonzaga team looked:

  • Derek Raivio
Looked sharp and on target from behind the arc. Will be one of the best point guards in the nation this year.
  • Josh Heytvelt
This guy will surprise a lot of people this year, nationally. Will be one of Gonzaga’s top scorers.
  • Jeremy Pargo
Pargo will sync in to Gonzaga offense nicely, now that the freshman jitters are gone. Unfortunatley, he may not get all the playing time he deserves with a loaded Gonzaga backcourt.
  • David Pendergraft
Not necessarily a star player, but a good addition in other fundamentals of the game. Good rebounding skills.
  • Sean Mallon
Sean is a great player. If he is more aggressive, more people will see this.
  • Pierre Marie Altidor-Cespedes
This guy is a scrappy player. A good hustler, but needs to calm himself down more on offense.
  • Matt Bouldin
Freshman, and highly touted recruit. He didn’t really impress me that much, but I have not gotten to see him play enough to make an accurate breakdown.

The game ended with Gonzaga’s bench players getting some playing time, and even scoring. This made the ‘Kennel Club’ explode in celebration.

Overall the team looked good and should be another explosive fast paced team. Look for another return to the NCAA tournament.

Miami & Florida International Brawl: An Analysis
Miami player suspensions would have never happened if they weren't playing Duke next.

Duke football gets to play a Miami football team that's going to have 13 of its players suspended. Duke, who is considered one of the worst football programs in the nation, may just have a shot at the hampered hurricanes, but probably not.

We have seen multiple player suspensions before, and the team almost always spreads out the suspensions over a few games. Not the case here as all 13 suspended players will sit out the Duke game.

Which brings me to my point. These suspensions would have never happened if Miami was playing any other team.

Do you think it would have happened if the 'Canes were playing an important ACC game? A heated rival?

Of course not!

Maybe Coach Coker can be thankful for the fight breaking out, as it serves as a distraction of the topic of him getting fired from his coaching job.

This season, the Miami football team looks like an unorganized group of animals. We all saw what happened in that fight last weekend.

I've said it before and I’ll say it again...The Florida schools are all overrated.

Let's face it. Either way Miami should totally dominate Duke. Most of those players suspended probably wouldn't even play passed the first quarter anyway. The game would be such a blow out, the 2nd and 3rd stringers would be in by halftime.

The fight, which consisted of fists, kicks, and helmet smashing, is one of the worst in college football history.

Watch the Video

The Miami Football Team is unsportsmanlike, to say the least.
