College Gold Glove Award
Starting in 2007, for the first time ever Rawlings will recognize college baseball's greatest defensive players with their own Gold Glove Awards.

The collegiate Gold Glove Awards will be presented to NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and NJCAA, in partnership with the American Baseball Coaches Association.

College Baseball's Gold Glove Awards will go to nine players at each level. Winners will be announced during each division's post-season tournaments.

"We are excited to be reaching out to college student athletes and offering them the opportunity to receive the Gold Glove Award, which for 50 years has been the greatest measurement of defensive excellence in baseball," said Rawlings President and General Manager Robert Parish. "This is something that never has been done before. We believe it's time to recognize defensive excellence at all levels of the game."

Having a College Gold Glove award will be good for college baseball. It will help those players who are defensive gems get more publicity and proper recognition, where in the past only offensive stars were the talk of sportscasters.

National Championship game on itunes
Flordia owns the BCS

While it wasn’t the close game we wanted or expected, it’s over.

Florida upset the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes 41-14 and now finally get the respect they deserved.

Chris Leak National Champion Chris Leak was definitely in the zone.

The win should give Florida a stocked supply of blue chip recruits for the next few years.

Chris Leak, being a senior and playing his last game as a Gator leaves the QB duties to Tim Tebow, who is the future of Florida Gator Football.

Tim is a great Quarterback and played we’ll in situations as a freshman this year.

Look for Florida to dominate next year as well.

In case you missed the National Championship game, Fox Sports is providing the game via iTunes for a minimal fee.

Washington Huskies in ESPN Power 16
University of Washington Huskies The Washington Huskies basketball team have been placed into ESPN’s Power 16. Grouped in with other college basketball greats such as UCLA, Florida and North Carolina.

This year’s huskies team has proved they can play without last years stars Brandon Roy and Nate Robinson.

With a quick and crafty Justin Dentmon, McDonald’s All American Spencer Hawes, and inside man Jon Brockman, Coach Romar has himself quite a contender this season.

The Huskies face the number 1 ranked UCLA Bruins on Sunday. UCLA was nearly upset by Washington State already this year.

The Pac 10 has three teams in the Power 16 and have had a great year so far as a whole.

Gonzaga Basketball plays Nevada
Gonzaga University plays the University of Nevada in the fourth annual Battle in Seattle at the KeyArena on Saturday.

The game will be aired on ESPN2 and, while not being in Spokane, the Zags will still be the favorite.

Gonzaga University and the University of Nevada are no strangers to the KeyArena in Seattle. The two teams met in the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament.

The second-seeded Bulldogs were upset by the 10 seeded Wolf Pack 91-72.

Two players from each team return to this Saturday in the first meeting between the teams since. Two Bulldog seniors, Derek Raivio and Sean Mallon were in action in 2004.

Mallon played 23 minutes off the bench as Ronny Turiaf got in early foul trouble, finishing with 9 points, 5 rebounds and a steal. Raivio played 12 minutes in a reserve role and missed his lone shot of the afternoon.

For the Wolf Pack, Nick Fazekas played 37 minutes, scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Marcelus Kemp came off the bench to play 13 minutes and score 2 points.

All four players are expected to have even greater roles this Saturday as all four will more than likely be in the starting lineup.

It should be a fast paced, high scoring game.

ESPN poor programming decisions
It was the game we were all waiting for

Duke vs Gonzaga

And ESPN screwed it up

ESPN chose to play a somewhat meaningless game that was in overtime and being played very slowly.

Now the match up which both basketball fans and non-basketball fans have been dying to see is half over.

Yeah, the match up may have come a year or two too late with both Morrison and Reddick now in the NBA but the anger and anticipation that I was feeling toward the game and ESPN is clearly present.

ESPN can even start a poll, since they are so good at doing that, and maybe they should have for this game, on which game fans and viewers want to see.

I have always been a fan of ESPN but by not airing the first half of the much anticipated Duke Gonzaga matchup, something needs to be said.

Shame on you ESPN.

While I can’t provide a good summary of the game so far, it appears to be an unusual low scoring game between the two offensive powerhouses.

Even Dick Vitale was extremely pissed about not getting his airtime.
