Starting in 2007, for the first time ever
Rawlings will recognize college baseball's greatest
defensive players with their own Gold Glove Awards.
The collegiate Gold Glove Awards will be
presented to NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and NJCAA, in partnership with the American Baseball Coaches Association.
College Baseball's Gold Glove Awards will go to nine players at each level. Winners will be
announced during each division's post-season tournaments.
"We are excited to be reaching out to college student
athletes and offering them the opportunity to receive the Gold Glove
Award, which for 50 years has been the greatest measurement of defensive
excellence in baseball," said Rawlings President and General Manager Robert
Parish. "This is something that never has been done before. We believe it's
time to recognize defensive excellence at all levels of the game."
Having a College Gold Glove award will be good for college baseball. It will help those players who are defensive gems get more publicity and proper recognition, where in the past only offensive stars were
the talk of sportscasters.

Flordia owns the BCS
While it wasn’t the close game we wanted or expected, it’s over.
Florida upset the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes 41-14 and now finally get the respect they deserved.
Chris Leak was definitely in the zone.
The win should give Florida a stocked supply of blue chip recruits for the next few years.
Chris Leak, being a senior and playing his last game as a Gator leaves the QB duties to Tim Tebow, who is the future of Florida Gator Football.
Tim is a great Quarterback and played we’ll in situations as a freshman this year.
Look for Florida to dominate next year as well.
In case you missed the National Championship game, Fox Sports is providing the game via iTunes for a minimal fee.
