This year, Florida State appears to be weak. First they had a difficult time vs Miami, then they nearly get upset by Troy, of all schools.
Overated? I think so.
Their coach blames it on playing 2 games in 5 days, since the Miami game was on a Monday and the Troy game was on the following Saturday. The Miami game was a close (as most rivalries are) game and it wore out the Seminoles. The FSU-Miami game attracted the largest audience in ESPN's history of broadcasting college football.
Florida State is lucky they have an easy schedule this year.
The Seminoles appear susceptible on defense. FSU, who led the NCAA with an average of 10 penalties a game last year, lost a lot of good defensive starters to the draft. They have just four returning starters on defense, with many of last years players being drafted in the first round of the NFL draft.
On offense, QB Drew Weatherford is decent, but when he struggles, there's no
running game to bail him out. The Seminoles averaged just 94
yards per game on the ground last season.
This Saturday is the "Bowden Bowl", as FSU hosts Clemson. I'm putting my money on Clemson. |
