Heisman Contender: Dwayne Jarrett
The Heisman trophy. One of the most prestigious awards in all of sports, and although it rarely goes to a Wide Receiver, it just may fall into the hands of USC WR Dwayne Jarrett.

Yes, fall into his hands, just like the many touchdown catches he has made throughout his collegiate football career. Last year (2005) Jarrett pulled in 91 catches for 1274 yards and a USC season tying 16 Touchdowns.

Things are looking very promising for Jarrett.

Last Saturday vs. Nebraska he had 11 catches for 136 yards and 2 TDs, setting the USC record for career Touchdowns.

The road ahead won’t be easy for Jarrett.

USC has one of the toughest schedules in College football. He’ll be facing some of the best corners in college football. The All-American definitely carries a size advantage with him, standing at 6’ 5”. For instance, Nebraska had him paired up with a 5’ 9” cornerback.

Sure enough, USC defeated Nebraska, mainly due to Jarrett’s performance. USC won for the 36th time in 37 games (Last year’s Rose Bowl being the only loss). The Trojans have won 28 straight at home. USC limited Nebraska to 211 yards, including 68 rushing yards on 36 carries, an average of 1.9 yards per rush.

Next week: USC plays its first Pac-10 game of the year @ Arizona
