Gonzaga Drug Problems
Gonzaga Basketball Gonzaga, who holds the longest winning streak in the NCAA and is one of the best things about college basketball faced a major blow on February 10.

Gonzaga University sophomore Josh Heytvelt and freshman Theo Davis were arrested in Cheney, Washington for possession of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms.

The players have been suspended indefinitely for violation of team policy.

This won’t be good for a gonzaga team who has played a tough schedule this year and is already “on the bubble”. Relying on key wins against North Carolina, Texas and Washington may be enough to get them into the NCAA tournament though.

Heytvelt has started 22 of Gonzaga’s 25 games this season, averaging 15.5 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 1.7 blocked shots/game. Davis is redshirting following shoulder surgery in October.

"I am shocked and disappointed," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said.

"We regret the far-reaching effect this has on our program and the university.”

"I was saddened to learn of the allegations against Josh Heytvelt and Theo Davis. We take these allegations very seriously. We will follow up by applying the same rules and procedures that would be applied to any other student," Robert Spitzer, Gonzaga University president, said.

Of course this means players like Derek Raivio and Jeremy Pargo must really step things up a bit.

If things don’t work out, there’s always next year, right?
