College Football Gameday preview: Nebraska vs. USC |
#19 Nebraska vs #4 USC
This is the first time Nebraska and USC have met since 1970. Although USC is heavily favored here, it should be a good game since both schools have been historically powerhouses. One Nebraska player even guaranteed Nebraska a victory on an ESPN interview.
The site at USC will also host this week’s ESPN Gameday spot. Which is a tough choice considering the other great games going on this weekend, including: #3 Auburn vs. #6 LSU, #7 Florida vs. #13 Tennessee, and #2 Notre Dame vs. #11 Michigan.
Maybe it has something to do with ESPN’s affiliation with Disney and ABC, given the fact that it is located in Los Angeles.
In my opinion, the best game of the week is Auburn vs. LSU, however, the best game to watch is Notre Dame and Michigan, given their school history.
Anyways, back to the game. USC has been absolutely dominant these past couple years. They possess one of the best coaches in the game now. It is definitely going to be tough for Nebraska to go into USC and come out with win. USC host some of the largest crowds in college football.
Last year’s USC was tied for 1st in having the best turnover ratio (+21) and had the best average yardage per game. They have a speedy team and have the top receiving corps in the nation, led by Dwayne Jarrett, who had 1200+ yards and a USC record tying 16 TD’s last year. Though he lost his Touchdown counterpart, John David Booty looks to be a good replacement for Matt Leinart. Booty should be able to put up some high numbers this year, even with the fact that he faces the toughest schedule this year in the NCAA. Let’s see how he does against Nebraska’s good Pass Defense.
Prediction: USC 34 Nebraska13
