Best College Team Mascot
Butch T Cougar Selected as the winner of the Capital One Bowl 2006 Mascot Challenge.
Butch, mascot of the Washington State University Cougars was named college mascot of the year.
Known for leading the “Go Cougs” cheer, Butch went up against 12 other notable collegiate mascots who went through both a regular season and playoff type ending.
Butch beat Testudo, mascot of the University of Maryland in the final playoff match up.
The mascot playoff tradition began in 2002 with the inaugural All-America Mascot Team. Fans decide who wins by voting for their favorite at capitalonebowl.com. The winning mascot brings home $10,000 for their school.

- Georgia Tech’s Buzz
- North Carolina State’s Mr. Wuf
- Syracuse University’s Otto
- University of Kentucky’s Wildcat

- University of Tennessee’s Smokey
- University of Wisconsin’s Bucky Badger
- Western Kentucky University’s Big Red
Previous mascot winners have been University of Nebraska’s Herbie Husker and Monte the Grizzly of the University of Montana.
